WIKA's primary flow elements are devices that measure flow using the differential pressure principle and include orifice plates, Venturi tubes, pitot tubes, restriction orifices, wedge flow meters, and flow nozzles. These are used to measure flow rates in various liquids, gases, and steam, with different elements being suitable for specific applications based on factors like pressure loss and medium characteristics. When coupled with a suitable differential pressure transmitter, these elements convert the pressure loss from upstream to downstream into a flow measurement. In more complex transmitters, known as "Multivariable", incorporate static pressure and temperature measurements to calculate compensated mass flow for various steam and gas applications.
